“When I think about teams that have won titles, goalkeepers are incredibly important,” Carragher told Sky Bets’ The Overlap programme.
“At Liverpool, the team I played for, we never had a goalkeeper on the same level as Peter Schmeichel. Edwin van der Sar or Petr Cech.”
“Liverpool got Alisson (after Carragher retired) and they won the league, that’s what I wanted to say.”
